Special Education Child Find Notice
Under federal and state special education regulations, Leicester Public Schools has a duty to locate, identify, refer, evaluate and, if eligible, provide a free, appropriate public education to students with disabilities who reside in the town of Leicester. For parents or guardians of children ages 3-21 years of age who have a disability or developmental delay, and who would like more information, please contact Pamela Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Child Find Coordinator, at 508-892-7040 X 9002
McKinney-Vento Liaison
IF YOUR FAMILY LIVES IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS:
Your school-age children may qualify for certain rights and protections under the federal McKinney-Vento Act.
- In a shelter
- In a motel or campground due to the lack of an alternative adequate accommodation
- In a car, park, abandoned building, or bus or train station Doubled up with other people due to loss of housing or economic hardship
If you believe your children may be eligible, contact Maura Mahoney, McKinney-Vento local liaison at [email protected] to find out what services and supports may be available. There also may be support available for your preschool-age children.

504 Child Find Notice
Pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits discrimination in publicly funded activities the Leicester Public Schools has a duty to identify refer, evaluate, and if eligible, provide access to public education to a student with impairments in its jurisdiction. For additional information about the rights or parents of eligible children, or for answers to any questions you might have about identification, evaluation, and placement into Section 504 programs, please contact the District’s Section 504 Coordinator at the following:

Leicester Public Schools Student Records Regulation Public Notice
Massachusetts Student Record Regulation 603 CMR 23.06(3) states: “the temporary record of any student enrolled on or after the effective date of 603 CMR 23.00 shall be destroyed no later than seven years after the student transfers, graduates, or withdraws from the school system. Written notice to the eligible student and his/her parent of the appropriate date of the destruction of the record and their right to receive the information in whole or part shall be made at the time of such transfer, graduation, or withdrawal. Such notice shall be in addition to the routine information letter required by 603 CMR 23.10.”
The Leicester Public Schools Student Services Office has reviewed records of students who have left the district after June 2014 and will initiate the destruction of those records after August 31, 2021. No other copies will exist as of that date. Please notify the Office if you wish to review and/or receive these records prior to their destruction by calling 508-892-7040 X 9002.

The Dept. of Conservation and Recreation's Universal Access Program provides outdoor recreation opportunities in Massachusetts state parks for visitors of all abilities.
